If you are looking to improve turkey numbers on your property, now is the time to think about controlling nest predators. Coyotes and fox get a bad reputation as turkey killers, but more damage to the turkey population is actually done by raccoons, opossum and skunks. Think about it, a coyote may catch an occasional bird, but if a coon finds a nest, he won’t stop until he’s eaten every egg. It’s November now and fur bearers are in season for hunting and trapping.
